Adding a new drive to unRaid
Quick notes for adding a disk to an unRaid server so that it will be used by the shares. Since I don’t add disk often enough, I always forget to do a few steps and the new disk sits empty till I notice.
- Stop all running dockers
- Shut down the server, install the disk, turn on server
- Tools / Preclear Disk / Start Preclear / Default settings / Start
- Once preclear is complete, shut down dockers and stop array
- Settings / Global Share settings / Enable disk shares : NO
- Settings / Global Share Settings / Add new disk
- Start array and verify disk is listed in shares
